Burned Out? Do Less — Not Nothing
Let’s be real: burnout doesn’t hit like a truck.
It creeps in.
One skipped workout.
One late night.
One missed meal prep.
Then suddenly, you wake up and realize… you’re exhausted. And it’s not just physical.
I’ve been there more times than I want to admit — recently included.
And every time, I learn the same lesson:
When your tank’s empty, the answer isn’t to do more.
It’s to do less — on purpose.
The Lie: "I fell off. I need to go harder."
That mentality might feel like discipline, but it’s actually burnout in disguise.
The truth? If you’re physically, mentally, or emotionally depleted, pushing harder just digs a deeper hole.
Instead:
Trade a heavy lift for a long walk.
Swap your full workout for 15 mins of mobility.
Sleep. Breathe. Reset.
You’re not losing progress. You’re preserving longevity.
The Reset Rule: Show Up at 40%
I have a rule when burnout hits:
If I can show up at 40% — and do it consistently — that’s a win.
That might mean:
A walk instead of a run
Logging my food without judging it
Doing something instead of nothing
Because 40% done is still better than 100% guilt and 0% action.
Real Talk
There’s no trophy for running yourself into the ground.
But there is power in knowing when to pause — and how to keep showing up, even if it’s not at full speed.
So if you’re burned out, don’t disappear.
Don’t ghost your goals.
Do less. Not nothing.
Then build back from there.
